In a magical valley three hours from Sydney, we’re busy restoring soil and growing food. Wake up to the sun, work in nature, and still duck off to the ocean by afternoon – how lucky we are.
If you like wholesome food, a bolt hole away from the hubbub, or just curious to see what Syntropic farming is, please drop us a line.
Mid North Coast NSW doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Once a patchwork of dairy farms, its now home to anything from Winery, horse stud, hobby farm or even aquaponics venture. Change is certainly in the air.
In 2024 Agnes and James left Sydney, buying a 25-hectare plot near Krambach. Not long after, Claire, Agnes’ sister and agronomist joined, followed by Olivier a compost enthusiast and passionate cook. Together with the help of regular visitors and friends we’re slowly bringing our patch back to life, restoring soil health, reintroducing native plants, and finding better ways to grow our food.
There’s something Back to the Future in what we’re trying to do. As city life loses appeal more of us are drawn to smaller footprint living, not as a retreat from progress but a way to rethink. We haven’t left science, technology, or innovation behind; we’re just applying it in ways that work with nature, not against it.
It’s our experiment. Some days a grand adventure, other days just runaway invasive plants and a sore back. But every step forward, every inch of healthier soil, every returning bird or insect makes us happier to be here.
Firefly Corner scratches a *Syntropic itch to work with nature, roll with the changing weather, and still duck off to the ocean for a surf. WWOOFers out there, if this sounds good, please drop us a line, perhaps you’ll join us.
*Syntropic is like agroforestry crossed with market gardening
